Our favorite Gen AI tools of 2025

The world of generative artificial intelligence moves pretty fast. That’s a big reason why we write this email newsletter each week. It gives us a reason to keep up on the latest news and tools, all of which we share weekly in this space. As 2025 comes to a close, let’s take a look at some generative AI tools we love (and use regularly).

Research and productivity

Deep Research - Deep Research tools in ChatGPT and Gemini handle complex multi-part questions and long form fact gathering. Give it a topic and it compiles structured findings, evaluates sources, and produces polished reports.

NotebookLM - NotebookLM serves as your research partner, able to ingest sources, synthesize insights, draft outlines, and answer questions with citations. It works well for professors, marketers, and anyone juggling a lot of reading. The audio and video overview features are great for people who learn better from multimedia than from text.

GPTs - GPTs let you build tailored chatbots for niche tasks using your own instructions, files, and workflows. They are helpful for student assignments, workshop tools, and repeatable content tasks.

JobsGPT - This custom GPT from SmarterX allows users to enter their job and quickly see how they might implement generative AI in their work. It breaks jobs down into tasks to achieve this. It can even predict future jobs based on a job or college major.

ChatGPT Apps and Connectors - Allow you to integrate tools, services, and external data directly into your workflow. You can pull information from platforms, run actions, analyze files, or automate tasks without switching tabs. They extend ChatGPT into a hub that connects to calendars, documents, productivity tools, and custom systems, making it easier to research, create, and collaborate in one place.

Vibe coding

Lovable - Lovable is an AI coding companion that turns text prompts into full working apps. It can write code, and deliver instant previews. It's great for rapid prototyping and even functioning apps. We used Lovable to build a custom project management tool for our company.

Claude Artifacts - Generate interactive outputs such as webpages, code projects, data visualizations, and formatted documents in a dedicated panel next to the chat. You can edit, refine, and rebuild these artifacts in real time as you iterate with the model. It’s useful for prototyping tools, drafting lesson materials, creating interactive demos, or producing polished assets without leaving the conversation.

Multimedia

Nano Banana Pro - Google’s latest image tool, which you can access in the Gemini app by pressing the 🍌 button, can help you visualize any idea and design anything … from prototypes, to representing data as infographics, to turning handwritten notes into diagrams. Snider used it to create a Simpson’s-style career map.

Sora 2 Characters - Sora 2 lets users produce short, realistic short-form video clips from a simple description. The standalone Sora app includes a TikTok-style feed of videos other have created. And the Character (formerly Cameo) feature in particular lets you put yourself and friends (and soon Disney characters) into your videos.

Veo 3.1 - Google’s Veo 3.1 pushes video quality forward with crisp detail, smooth motion, improved lighting control for both cinematic and social formats - and audio. Describe the video you want or upload a photo to see your ideas come to life with native audio generation.

HeyGen - HeyGen produces lifelike talking avatars, voice swaps, and translation videos. It's perfect for quick intros, tutorials, or social content when you do not want to get on camera.

Descript - This AI powered audio and video editing platform that lets you edit recordings by editing text. It removes filler words, polishes narration, and creates clean exports fast. The Underlord feature acts as a co-editor to help you edit and improve your videos.

Suno - Creates full songs from short text prompts, complete with vocals, instrumentation, and structure. It works well for making jingles, parody songs, classroom examples, or quick musical ideas without needing audio gear. The newest models produce surprisingly polished mixes with strong vocal performance.P

Presentations

Gamma - This presentation and document generator that turns simple prompts into clean decks, webpages, and reports. It handles layouts, visuals, and formatting automatically. It’s especially useful for anyone who wants polished, modern slides without spending hours in traditional design tools.

Google Slides using Canvas - Google Slides presentations can be created in Gemini using the "Canvas" feature. This feature allows the generation of a multi-slide draft from a text prompt or an uploaded document, which can then be exported to Google Slides for further editing.

Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint - Helps you turn ideas into full slide decks with ready to present layouts, speaker notes, and visuals. Describe the story you want to tell or paste in a document and Copilot drafts a complete presentation that you can fine tune. It’s especially helpful for educators, marketers, and business teams who need polished slides quickly without starting from a blank page.
