Google rolls out Gemini Deep Think AI, a reasoning model that tests multiple ideas in parallel
Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, Google’s new reasoning model, is “able to answer questions by exploring and considering multiple ideas simultaneously and then using those outputs to choose the best answer.” Gemini 2.5 Deep Think is Google’s first publicly available multi-agent model. Of course, you’ve got to pay to play: The tool is only currently available with a $250-per-month Gemini Ultra subscription.
Apple’s new 'Answers' team is developing a stripped down ChatGPT experience
We haven’t talked much about Apple in this newsletter, as Apple really hasn’t made much noise in the world of generative AI. That may be changing with Apple’s new “Answers, Knowledge, and Information“ team, which is seeking to build an “answer engine” with the power to “crawl the web to gather information and respond to questions like ChatGPT does.” This doesn’t sound like an entirely new development, so it will be interesting to see if Apple can put its own spin on AI-powered search.
Grok Imagine, xAI’s new AI image and video generator, lets you make NSFW content
It’s no surprise to hear of yet another LLM that incorporates image generation as one of its features. And it’s no surprise to hear that Grok continues to push the limits of “safe” content generation. So it’s no surprise to hear that Grok, xAI’s LLM, has incorporated its own image generation tool, Grok Imagine, that lacks the content filters of its rivals such as Midjourney, ChatGPT 4o images, and Ideogram. (Also: What’s up with multiple AI image generation tools incorporating the word “imagine” into the name of their products? Can’t you “imagine” a more creative name?) Grok Imagine is not fully unrestricted—there are still limits to what one can generate with the tool.

Tool of the week: NotebookLM Video Overviews
NotebookLM’s audio overviews have been a game-changer for helping us understand complex content. And NotebookLM now offers Video Overviews, a new Studio output format that presents narrated slides with visuals, quotes, data, and diagrams pulled from your documents.

These are ideal for explaining complex topics, data, and abstract ideas. Like Audio Overviews, they’re customizable, so you can tailor them to your audience, focus on specific topics, and set learning goals.
AI-generated image of the week
In honor of the Iowa State Fair opening this Thursday, we’re showing you how to turn an image into a butter sculpture (just like the ones on display in the Agriculture Building). Here’s Drake University mascot Griff II made of butter. We’ll share more butter sculptures on our Instagram account later this week. Email yours to [email protected] to be included.

Prompt: Transform this photo into a realistic butter sculpture, as if it were hand-carved for display at the Iowa State Fair. Emphasize smooth, creamy textures with sculpted detail that mimics the look of soft yellow butter. The sculpture should appear slightly glossy under warm exhibit lighting, with visible tool marks and folds to show expert craftsmanship. Place the sculpture on a wooden display base inside a refrigerated glass case, with a blurred fairground background.
