OpenAI and Anthropic Launch Enterprise Joint Ventures

Anthropic and OpenAI announced separate joint ventures aimed at expanding enterprise AI services. Anthropic joined forces with major firms like Blackstone and Goldman Sachs in a venture valued at $1.5 billion. Meanwhile, OpenAI is raising $4 billion for its own venture, The Development Company, valued at $10 billion. These partnerships matter because they provide preferred sales access to investor portfolio companies and implement a forward-deployed engineer model to customize tools for corporate workflows.

Pentagon clears eight firms for classified AI

The Pentagon announced agreements with eight technology companies, including OpenAI, Google, and SpaceX (but not Anthropic), to deploy their artificial intelligence on classified networks. These firms are now approved for Impact Level 6 and Impact Level 7 systems, which handle secret and highly classified data. This expansion aims to establish the United States military as an AI-first fighting force and strengthen decision-making in complex operational environments. By partnering with multiple providers, the department intends to ensure a diversity of supply and avoid reliance on any single partner.

Musk accuses Altman of stealing OpenAI charity

The first week of the Musk v. Altman trial concluded in Oakland after three days of testimony from Elon Musk. Musk argued that OpenAI leaders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman broke early promises to keep the startup as a nonprofit, claiming they effectively stole a charity for commercial gain. A ruling against OpenAI could force the company to unwind its for-profit restructuring and potentially remove its top executives. OpenAI President Brockman took the stand Monday, providing testimony that revealed his $30 billion stake in the company.

Tool of the Week: Gemini doc creation

Google rolled out file generation in the Gemini app last week, letting users create downloadable Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, Word, Excel, CSV, LaTeX, and more directly from a single prompt. The feature is free and available to all Gemini users on web and mobile — no Workspace plan required. Google was the last of the major chatbots to ship this, catching up to Claude (which launched it last fall) and ChatGPT, which makes basic AI file creation officially table stakes across the industry.

What we found

Wondering if that new song you love on Spotify is AI? Now you can tell. Spotify is rolling out green checks to verify human artists on the app. Ironically, Spotify will use AI in the verification process, looking for live concert dates, merchandise, and linked social accounts of artists.
