White House calls for “light-touch” on AI

The Trump administration released a national AI policy framework, calling on Congress to adopt a “light-touch” legislative approach to the technology. The framework aims to establish uniform safety guardrails and secure American AI dominance while preempting individual states from enacting their own regulations. The proposal places emphasis on infrastructure, tasking Congress with ensuring that the massive energy demands of new AI data centers do not lead to increased electricity costs for residential ratepayers.

Actors, musicians and writers welcome UK U-turn on AI use of copyrighted work

The UK government has reversed course on its decision to permit AI companies to train their models using copyright-protected work without permission; actors, musicians, and writers celebrated the decision. Alongside this announcement from technology secretary Liz Kendall came the announcement of “the establishment of a taskforce to examine proposals to label AI content; a consultation on protecting someone’s likeness from being used in deepfakes; a working group to support smaller creative organisations in licensing their content; and a review of how creators can monitor use of their work by AI firms.”

Anthropic just shipped an OpenClaw killer called Claude Code Channels, letting you message it over Telegram and Discord

Back in early February we featured OpenClaw (then referred to as “Moltbot”), an autonomous agent that users can text via Telegram, Discord, or WhatsApp that has been the bane of the existence of IT administrators, as it introduces all sorts of security risks. Now Anthropic has released a more secure and accessible version of OpenClaw in the form of Claude Code Channels, which allows users to send messages to Claude Code via Telegram or Discord to direct Claude Code to autonomously develop code while on the go. Said an X user in response to this news: “Claude just killed OpenClaw with this update. You no longer need to buy a Mac Mini. I say this as someone who owns a one lol.”
