Welcome to the Friday edition of our newsletter. We spend Fridays going deeper into tools and trends related to generative AI (and Tuesdays sharing news updates).
The final project of our Gen AI class … and you?
We’re doing something different in this year’s version of our generative AI class. Students completed multiple projects in last year’s class, but we didn’t ask them to solve a specific problem someone else might face in their work (a skill they are increasingly expected to have as they enter the workforce).
This year, we’re remedying that situation, but with a twist. Instead of having them cook up a problem of their own, we’re looking to the community, including you, our readers, to provide potential problems that they might solve.
What exactly does that involve? First, pose a problem that arises within your own work that you suspect AI might be able to solve but which you haven’t attempted to use AI to solve. The kinds of problems we have in mind should be fairly generic (i.e., it probably shouldn’t depend on your company’s proprietary data) and feasible to solve within a week or so.
Second, agree to meet virtually with the group of students that is assigned to solve your problem after they’ve had a chance to start working on your problem. We want to ensure that our students can build a solution that aligns with your needs or that of your company. This doesn’t have to be a serious commitment — even a 15 minute meeting to cover the bases should suffice.
Third, we’d like you to provide some feedback to the students after they prototype a solution. Again, this can just be a short description of what worked well, what needs improvement, and how they might proceed differently.
Interested in participating in this educational experiment? The reach out to us at [email protected] with a project idea. We’re looking for 10-12 project ideas in total, but the more the merrier!
